Story Detail

Opening of the Riantbosson Centre in Meyrin

Following a 20 months construction period, the Riantbosson Centre in Meyrin opened its doors on 26th April 2018. The building, which has impressive contemporary architecture, combines office space and retail areas. Visitors to the Riantbosson Centre can find plenty of well-known brands there: ALDI SUISSE, Maxi Bazar – not to mention Switzerland's largest McDonald's, complete with McDrive.

The Riantbosson Centre is located in one of Meyrin’s emerging districts; thanks to the new development, the local commercial sector can now offer a full range of services to the population of the Meyrin catchment area. With prestigious brand names on display in the individual businesses – both the established and the new – the multifaceted shopping centre has something for everyone. Situated just a few minutes away from Geneva's international airport and the motorway slip road, the Centre also has a direct tram link to Geneva's city centre, plus a three-storey underground car park.

The office rental spaces on offer in the Riantbosson Centre are modular units ranging from 200 to 770 square metres, well able to meet the individual requirements of businesses looking to establish branches in the Geneva area. The office spaces can be used for administrative purposes, skilled businesses or as showrooms.

Jean Megow, Head Region West of Swiss Prime Site Immobilien, accompanied the Riantbosson Centre construction. In the short interview below, he gives us a glimpse behind the scenes at the Riantbosson Centre.

Jean Megow, what do you particularly like about the Riantbosson Centre?
The Riantbosson Centre has a multifaceted range to offer its visitors: The new ALDI and Maxi Bazar complement the pre-established retailers Media Markt, Pfister, Decathlon, Habitat, King Jouet, Kids up, La Halle aux chaussures, Golfers Paradise, Fust, Lumimart, Carglass, TCS, Tamoil, etc. Plus, McDonald's has opened Switzerland's biggest restaurant to date at the Centre, complete with McDrive.

What is special about the office spaces and the building's architecture?
The office spaces are fully modularly fitted out. This means we can offer our tenants maximum individuality and flexibility when setting up their office areas. The contemporary architecture and glass façades encompass almost 6,000 square metres of rental space, rising distinctively above the neighbouring buildings and offering 360° views. I like the impressive view over the airport, Alps and the Mont Blanc.

Are there still any rental spaces available?
There are still just a few office spaces available. It’s worth a look at our mobile showroom!

What projects are still in the planning pipeline in West Switzerland?
The Geneva Business Terminal will be completed this year; apart from that, we have two other attractive major projects ongoing in the Geneva area: «Espace Tourbillon» in Plan-les-Ouates and «Esplanade de Pont-Rouge» in Lancy.

The foundation stone for «Espace Tourbillon» will be laid at the beginning of June. It is a development encompassing a total usable area of 95,000 square metres and comprising five buildings, each with seven storeys above ground, three below, and integrated logistics. The future tenants will benefit from flexible, fully modern spaces. Completion is scheduled for 2021. Meanwhile, the «Esplanade de Pont-Rouge» will open in 2020. Situated right by Lancy's rail station, what we are building here is a 15-storey modern service building with innovative, flexible spaces. This project forms a key pillar of the important «Praille-Acacias-Vernets» (PAV) development area, where a new neighbourhood and urban centre is emerging for the population of Geneva.
