BREEAM In-use certification

The Jelmoli building was certified with BREEAM In-use. BREEAM certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a method for assessing sustainability. It is used to certify projects, infrastructures and buildings. Launched in 1990 by the Building Research Establishment (BRE), the system sets standards for the environmental characteristics of buildings through the design, specification, construction and operation phases.

The history of Jelmoli

In 1833, Peter Jelmoli-Ciolina had the idea of creating a department store with fixed prices, where there was no haggling. With this then revolutionary concept, he opened the Jelmoli department store and ushered in a new shopping era. The department store quickly became one of the most successful addresses in Zurich. Over the years, the business continued to expand. Various conversions and extensions in the thirties, forties and fifties led to the current location on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse. Today, thanks to motivated employees and innovative concepts, Jelmoli continues to set trends in modern retailing.
