Motel One Zürich
The Design Hotel is located in the monument-protected building of the former Selnau Post, directly in the centre of Zurich, not far from Paradeplatz and the Old Botanical Garden. The preservation of ancient monuments closely supervised the conversion of the building, which was built in 1910. The façade was completely renovated and the windows renewed. The old counter areas were preserved and now serve as a public lounge for hotel guests. In the hotel itself, everything revolves around mountains, chocolate and Lake of Zurich. An alpine landscape adorns the lobby, at breakfast you look at atmospheric pictures of Lake Zurich and in the hotel bar everything revolves around chocolate - from the chocolate drops swinging from the ceiling to the golden chocolate paper above the bar counter.
BREEAM In-use certification
The building was certified with BREEAM In-use. BREEAM certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a method for assessing sustainability. It is used to certify projects, infrastructures and buildings. Launched in 1990 by the Building Research Establishment (BRE), it sets standards for the environmental characteristics of buildings through the design, specification, construction and operation phases.
